RALLYE du CHILLIWACK 2010
Christopher Trevelyan ctrevelyan@telus.net
Members of the Volvo Club of BC are invited to participate in the Rallye du Chilliwack 2010. The Rallye is a 1950s style competitive navigation road rallye that will be held through the back roads of Chilliwack on Saturday, September 18th 2010.
The Rallye is open to any owner of a European automobile manufactured during the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. Drivers must also have a valid driver's licence and auto insurance. Navigators/Co-drivers are mandatory, though some exceptions may be made. The cost is yet to be announced, but will be in the $10 to $15 range to cover maps, event stickers, and other material.
After an odometer calibration and driver's meeting in the morning, each team will be given a map with approximate locations of numerous check points. Each team must find the check points, photograph themselves at the check points, and then navigate to the final destination without being late. The team who navigates the most direct route without ANY electronic aids, and thus travels the fewest miles, wins the Rallye! There will be four classes, so it is possible to win one's own class and/or overall title!
Please remember though that this is NOT a speed contest, and there is no advantage to finishing early. Reckless or irresponsible driving on public roads during the rallye will not be tolerated and will result in an instant disqualification/ban.
We already have several BMWs, as well as various Yugoslavian, Czech, and French cars, but we are hoping to see Sweden represented, so please do bring out your Volvos!
For more information call Chris Trevelyan 604-541-1791, please visit the
members section of www.ClassicEuropeanCarClub.com for details!

Valley, on the weekend of September 10 to 12, 2004. For the information of our
American friends, Osoyoos is just 5 miles north of the border from Oroville,
Washington. That's about 220 miles north-east of Seattle on some of the most
beautiful roads in the Pacific North West. For those unfamiliar with the
Okanagan Valley it is renowned for its fruit orchards, wine vineyards,
recreational lakes and sunny weather.
Complete details on the trip can be found on the Osoyoos
page.
